Given the consumption rates of media by Black audiences and Dr. Cox's yearning for representation in media, her work has solely focused on the representation of Black women, and if/how those representations affect Black youth's thoughts about Black women and girls. In order to stop perpetuating violence and disrespect towards Black women and girls, it's important that we know what role the media plays.
